Blawith and Subberthwaite Parish plan – Connects us with the past; sustains our present: gives us hope for the future.

Blawith and Subberthwaite lies within the Lake District National Park and World Heritage Site. At a public meeting, held in the village hall the people present individually wrote out their feelings about living and being part of the Blawith and Subberthwaite community, these are expressed below.

” We live in a quiet, tranquil, friendly place with a genuine, strong community spirit that is not intrusive but supportive.”

“We enjoy spectacular landscapes, full of interest and can access many wonderful walks straight from our front doors. The night skies are often clear and mesmerisingly beautiful.”

“We have retained many of our traditional buildings and although these are often modernised the spirit of by gone years is respected and maintained.”

“We have easy access to high fells, low fells, tarns, woodlands and a lake with few imposed restrictions, yet we are near to the amenities of the town.”

“We are near to places of historic interest, eg Brantwood. We have excellent schools, a lively church and many clubs and activities, “

“There is an ongoing and diverse agenda of entertainment -regularity held at the village hall in Water Yeat. Good local pubs serving food all help contribute to ensuring people have community connections.”

“The farming community is very active, we still have real farming methods and quality livestock with well maintained and managed land. There is also a continuity of care for the land as the younger generation from long established local farming families, start to take over. “

“We live in harmony with our environment.”
